Greater Columbus Chamber Commerce- Member Marketing, Sales and Retention Manager

POSITION TITLE: Member Marketing, Sales and Retention Manager

REPORTS TO: COO

SUPPORT TO: The Greater Columbus Chamber Commerce Membership Department

OVERALL FOCUS: The Member Marketing, Sales and Retention Manager will develop and implement a marketing plan, build and maintain positive relationships with current members, gather information on changing member needs and trends, and increase revenue and retention rates. Tentative goal set to increase retention rate to 90% or greater within determined time period.

Work with Membership Sales team to help build and sustain Chamber memberships and sponsorships by focusing on new members, developing and implementing a membership campaign, increasing investment levels of current members, managing membership appreciation and membership retention.

Allocation of Time:

40% Provide strategic vision, coordination, implementation and management for all marketing initiatives

40% Coordinate, implement and manage all membership sales and retention activities.

10% Recruit new members.

10% Support Chamber of Commerce events and projects.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with the COO to develop and implement a three-year membership marketing and retention development plan with goals, strategies, tactics, budget and resource allocations

Review, analyze and recommend membership model changes

Develop a strategic marketing outreach program to increase community knowledge and support of Chamber.

Develop and implement a Membership Campaign.

Maintain the membership database and audit data for consistency and accuracy as it relates to retention efforts

Work with the Coordination Manager to create retention reports

Identify at-risk members; instruct and mobilize staff to assist in saving at-risk accounts

Track the audit of customer touch points (e.g., phone auto-attendant, website features) to enhance member experiences

Oversees the compilation, packaging and distribution of new member packets, renewal appreciation letters, member cancellation processes etc.

Conduct and organize Chamber Channels (new-member orientations), member retention campaigns, member benefit cards and or whatever is deemed as appropriate

Coordinate meetings and activities for Retention Committee and serve as the volunteers' primary point of contact

Serve as primary point of contact for activities for any additional volunteer efforts to support member retention

Coordinate with staff to develop member directory: provide current membership data to the appropriate sources; audit the membership database and collect current information

Work closely with the public relations and communications staff to ensure that appropriate brand messages are incorporated in all aspects of the retention and renewal process.

As needed, work with public relations and communications staff to deliver story ideas, member testimonials for chamber communications, and provide input for website improvements which allow members to more effectively and efficiently conduct business with the Chamber.

Support the Membership Department and staff with projects and activities.

Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Skills Needed:

High School diploma or GED required. College degree a plus preferably in marketing and/or sales management

Proven experience and success in sales, sales management and customer service

Proven experience in the development and implementation of marketing and/or outreach campaigns

Experience in member relations, sales and/or customer service experience in a not-for-profit organization a plus

Ability to consistently meet project deliverables and deadlines

Excellent communication and presentation skills required

Should have a strong bias toward action

Organization, time management and multi tasking skills a must

Highly motivated, self starter with ability to work independently from management direction

Ability to work with a large and changing team of volunteers

Experience in use of computer software used by Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce (i.e. Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Outlook, e-mail, previous IRM Membership Management Systems experience a plus)

Prior Chamber experience or not-for-profit a plus
