The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce  is seeking a President/CEO.

 About Greer, SC:

Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Greer South Carolina offers many opportunities to live, work and
play in one of the Southeast’s fastest growing markets. With a population of over 245,300 within a 20 minute drive of
the central historic downtown area and almost 1.5 million residents in our metropolitan area, the community offers an

The Greer area is home to over 4,000 businesses that include BMW Manufacturing, Mitsubishi Polyester Film, Michelin,

About the Greer Chamber

The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce is a 5-Star Accredited Chamber with approximately 600 members and an
operating budget of approximately $375,000.  Its diverse membership includes small businesses, industries, professional firms,
financial institutions, non-profit organizations, government agencies, and individuals.   The Greer Chamber employees
4 full time employees and 2 part-time employees along with 2 contract employees.

The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce is also a member of the Upstate (SC) Chamber Coalition.  The Coalition is a
Chamber collaborative that focuses on public policy initiatives for the Upstate of SC and the business community.

The Position:

The President/CEO is the chief paid executive officer of the Chamber as well as the administrator of the Greater Greer Education
Foundation and the Chamber Political Action Committee.  The President/CEO is responsible for all administrative and management
functions and executing the mission and strategic plan of the organization as approved by the Board of Directors.  The President
will provide high profile leadership, vision, guidance and strategic direction for the full range of activities of the Chamber as well
as coordination of the program of work; organizational structure and procedures; motivation of volunteers; income and expenditures;
maintenance of membership; employment; training and supervision of staff; interpretation of policy; and long-range planning.  
The President will be a collaborative leader and will successfully manage and evaluate current programs while developing new
programs and strategic initiatives to support the organization’s operations and growth and its desire to increase membership. 

Major Responsibilities include:

·          Formulate, plan, organize, recommend and administer policies and programs relating to the Chamber, which includes
current and long range planning for achievement of major area goals

·          Manage and coordinate the functions and staff of the departments and divisions of the organization

·          Serve as a consultant to the Chairman of the Board, Board of Directors and give leadership in the formulation of objectives,
programs, and policies

·          Develop leadership and stimulate the work of committees, task forces and other groups to accomplish the Program of Work

·          Understand and convey the organizations concepts and philosophies and their relationships to the staff and Board of Directors

·          Select and develop an adequate organization and staff, assign functions, define lines of authority and responsibility and set-up
an effective system of operation

·          Establish and maintain a satisfactory working relationship with community leaders, public officials, private and public entities

·          Responsible for the finances of the organization, which includes the planning of the budget, presentation to the Board of Directors,
and control and audit of the approved budget

·          Develop sources of non-dues revenue for the organization

·          Make public addresses to various organizations, professional and civic groups in the area concerning the organization and the
area activities and purpose

·          Develop staff through direction, coaching, training, support and delegation of responsibilities

·          Motivate and recruit volunteers

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferably in communications, marketing,
business, economic development or related field and a minimum of 3 years of proven and successful experience in a management or
supervisory position, preferably within an Association or Chamber profession.  Demonstrated commitment to continued professional
development through the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for Organization Management and/or Certified Chamber Executive designation is
preferred.

Other skills, abilities, knowledge include:

·          Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

·          Excellent presentation skills

·          Good organizational and people skills

·          Ability to efficiently handle multi-tasked operations

·          PC and word-processing experience

Compensation and benefits

The compensation package will include a competitive salary, determined in part by the successful candidate’s level of professional
experience.  The Chamber offers a benefit package, including health and dental insurance, ACCE 401(K), STD and LTD, paid vacation,
paid sick time and paid holidays each year. The successful candidate for the President/CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of
Commerce will reside in the two-county area served by the Chamber.
