CACCE
gives $6,000 in Institute Scholarships in 2006
A near record
number of Institute Applications were received this year. Nearly 20 applicants vied for scholarships.
A special thanks goes out to the Scholarship Committee
Chairman Bob Morgan and his committee members, Tom Dayvault,
Bob Williford and Rob Youngblood for their daunting task of
selecting the worthy recipients of the Institute Scholarships.
The 2006
CACCE Institute Scholarship Recipients are as follows.
Laurette
Leagon of the Boone (NC) Area Chamber of Commerce; Teresa
Rankin of the Gaston County (NC) Chamber of Commerce; Annette
Fisher of the Georgetown (SC) Chamber of Commerce; Lynn
Pascazio of the Greater Greer (SC) Chamber of Commerce;
Valerie Chambers of the Greater Statesville (NC) Chamber of
Commerce; Barbara Corbett of the Greater Sumter (SC) Chamber of
Commerce; Tonia Stephenson of the High Point (NC) Chamber of
Commerce ; Cynthia Bradley of the Moore County (NC) Chamber of
Commerce; Darren O'Connor of the Wake Forest (NC) Chamber
of Commerce; and Melissa Walker Price of the York County (SC)
Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Sheryl Bynum
of the Apex Chamber of Commerce (NC) was selected as the 2006
CACCE Ashby Ward Scholarship recipient.
This $1,000 scholarship is funded by the Myrtle Beach
Area Chamber of Commerce. It is named for their former President, Ashby Ward.
Institute
for Organization Management is a professional development
program for association and chamber executives. Presented by
the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Institute is hosted at five
university locations across the country. Since 1921,
thousands of nonprofit professionals have attended, making it
the most recognized and valued educational program in the
industry. The Institute curriculum is a four-year course of
study designed by experts in association, chamber, and
nonprofit management. Participants take five required core
courses each year with the same group of colleagues, creating
a learning group that builds upon previous classes. Students
consistently report that the experience the most inspiring and
innovative professional development program they’ve ever
attended.
CACCE
is a professional development organization dedicated to
improving the educational opportunities for chamber of
commerce executives and staff members in North and South
Carolina. The
organization was formed in 1994 when the North and South
Carolina state chamber associations merged.
